The national phlebotomist certificate is your other best credential for landing a job in this field.

The national certification can be obtained through one of the following institutions:

  • American Medical Technologists

  • American Society of Phlebotomy Technicians
  • National Phlebotomy Association

You’ll first have to complete a course and then sit through an exam.

There are 2 parts to this exam:

  • Written or oral

This certification has to be renewed, and each institution has its own rules when it comes to this.

With the American Society of Phlebotomy Technicians, you have to renew your credential every year.

The American Society for Clinical Pathology requires certification renewal after every 10 years.
